Performance

CrystalDiskMark test results on the Samsung 9100 Pro show very aggressive performance for a PCIe 5.0 SSD. Sequential read speeds reached 14,792 MB/s, while write speeds were around 13,367 MB/s. These figures place it well above PCIe 4.0 SSDs, confirming that this drive is designed to handle extreme demands such as content production, AI, demanding simulations, and large data transfers with low latency.

Interestingly, in the Q1T1 sequential test, which is more representative of everyday use such as loading applications or games, performance remained at around 9,800 MB/s for reads and 10,637 MB/s for writes. This consistency reflects the efficiency of Samsung's firmware and V8 TLC NAND architecture, which maintains high speeds even in single threaded scenarios.

In terms of random 4K performance, the Samsung 9100 Pro demonstrates strong capabilities for supporting system responsiveness. Results of 827 MB/s read and 586 MB/s write in Q32T1, and 81 MB/s and 261 MB/s in Q1T1, indicate solid I/O performance for multitasking, operating systems, and professional applications. With its combination of large capacity and stable performance, this SSD is clearly intended for enthusiast class desktop systems and workstations that require long term reliability.

Furthermore, the Samsung 9100 Pro SSD also delivers random read speeds of up to 2,200K IOPS and random write speeds of up to 2,600K IOPS. These figures are crucial when using a PC for AI processing, such as generative AI, as more and more applications offer a range of AI based features. This way, loading processes can be faster and performance more consistent, regardless of the type of application being accessed.

We also know that the Samsung 9100 Pro is available in up to 8TB variants, the largest capacity. However, whether you use 1TB or 2TB, the speeds remain the same. In other words, higher capacity doesn't affect the speed of an SSD. You simply need to adjust it based on your storage needs, as well as your budget. 

Other Features

Of course, Samsung doesn't just release hardware without dedicated software that makes it easy for users to monitor device condition and perform maintenance. And since long ago, Samsung has relied on Samsung Magician software, which consumers can use for a number of these needs, including monitoring the "health" of the Samsung 9100 Pro SSD.
