Microsoft Copilot Will Leave WhatsApp Starting January 15, 2026

Microsoft recently officially announced that its AI chatbot, Copilot, will no longer be available on WhatsApp starting January 15, 2026. As a result, users who have been interacting with Copilot on WhatsApp will need to switch to the official Copilot mobile app.

For those who don't know, since its launch in late 2024, Copilot on WhatsApp has helped millions of users connect directly with AI. However, as of January 15, 2026, this service is officially discontinued.

For those who haven't tried it, you can access Copilot by sending a message to the official WhatsApp Copilot contact. Its functionality is more or less the same as Copilot on the web or app, allowing us to search for information, create images, and do various other things. However, everything is packaged directly within the WhatsApp app we normally use.

However, that era is finally coming to an end, thanks to a decision following an update to WhatsApp's platform policy that removed all LLM-based chatbots from its service. This has obviously resulted in Copilot becoming unusable.

However, until January 15, 2026, the service will remain operational as usual, allowing users to continue conversations or create new ones with Copilot. However, there's one important thing to know: WhatsApp chat history cannot be transferred to the Copilot app or website, as access on WhatsApp is unauthenticated and doesn't require a login.

So, what do you think? Will you miss this feature on WhatsApp? Comment below, but one thing's for sure: the removal of Copilot from WhatsApp isn't the end of the world, as we can still experience AI on other platforms.
