The Helio G100 is presented as an affordable solution for users who need a powerful device for their daily activities. Meanwhile, the Dimensity 7300 is designed to target a higher-end class.
Therefore, the specifications of the Helio G100 are slightly more limited. The Dimensity 7300 is able to outperform this lower-midrange chipset in almost every aspect.
Differences Between the MediaTek Helio G100 and the MediaTek Dimensity 7300
Among the various advantages offered, the Dimensity 7300 offers more powerful performance. This mid-range chipset is based on faster and more advanced cores. While both use ARM Cortex-A55 in the efficiency cluster, the Dimensity 7300 is equipped with ARM Cortex-A78 in the performance cluster. The Helio G100, on the other hand, still relies on the ARM Cortex-A76.
For those who don't know, the Cortex-A78 itself is two generations newer than the Cortex-A76. This core architecture specifically offers higher power efficiency and performance thanks to the use of newer technology.
The Dimensity 7300 also strengthens its capabilities by using a more extensive configuration in the performance cluster. While the Helio G100 only uses two Cortex-A76 cores, this chipset uses four Cortex-A78 cores.
Furthermore, the performance core cluster on the Dimensity 7300 is also reported to run faster. This chipset can be boosted to 2.5 GHz, while the Helio G100 can only handle up to 2.2 GHz.
Along with its core processing performance, this chipset is also equipped with a more promising graphics processor. The Dimensity 7300 uses the ARM Mali-G615 MC2, which is technically more advanced and powerful than the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 on the Helio G100.
With the aforementioned core processing and graphics configuration, the Dimensity 7300 was able to outperform the Helio G100 in AnTuTu testing. The difference in points between the two chipsets was quite significant.
For example, in testing conducted by the Gadgetren Team on the TECNO POVA Curve 5G, the Ultimate variant of the Dimensity 7300 managed to achieve an AnTuTu score of over 690,000.
Meanwhile, the Helio G100 only managed an AnTuTu score of around 440,000 when testing its performance on the TECNO SPARK 30 Pro. This represents a performance difference of approximately 40%.
The Dimensity 7300's superiority is further enhanced by the presence of a dedicated artificial intelligence processing chip. MediaTek has embedded the MediaTek NPU 655, which is claimed to provide enhanced visual support, power efficiency, and performance.
Furthermore, this chipset also offers improved memory support. The Dimensity 7300 supports LPDDR5 memory with frequencies up to 6,400 Mbps, while the Helio G100 is only compatible with LPDDR4x memory with a maximum speed of 4,266 Mbps.
The storage support offered by this chipset is also more advanced. The Dimensity 7300 supports UFS 3.1 media, which is not only technically newer but also offers higher bandwidth and read-write capabilities than the UFS 2.2 used in the Helio G100.
Because it is supported by a 5G modem, the Dimensity 7300's cellular connection is also faster. This chipset can technically handle download speeds of up to 3.27 Gbps, while the Helio G100 only reaches 391.7 Mbps due to its LTE Cat-13 modem.
In terms of connectivity, this chipset's Wi-Fi support is also significantly more advanced. MediaTek has adopted the Wi-Fi 6E standard on the Dimensity 7300, while the Helio G100 only uses Wi-Fi 5.
Furthermore, this chipset also supports Bluetooth 5.4. This wireless technology offers more comprehensive features than the Bluetooth 5.2 used on the Helio G100, although data transfer speeds and operational range remain similar.
While both support up to 200MP resolution, the Dimensity 7300's recording capabilities are more capable. This chipset can handle video processing up to 4K at 30fps, while the Helio G100 is limited to 2K at 30fps.
In line with its video recording capabilities, the Dimensity 7300 also supports sharper displays. Manufacturers can use panels up to 120Hz WFHD+, while the Helio G100 can only handle up to Full HD+ for the same refresh rate.
