Through the One UI system interface, various Samsung phones are equipped with a double-tap screen function that can be used to turn the display on or off more conveniently. This function makes Samsung devices more convenient to use. Users can turn the display on or off without having to reach for the Power button, which is now often called the Side Key.
Although available on most of Samsung's latest generation phones, users sometimes still need to enable the double tap screen function before using it.
How to Enable Double-tap Screen on a Samsung Phone
- Open the Settings page.
- Go to the Advanced features section.
- Find and select the Motions and gestures menu.
- Enable the Double tap to turn on screen or Double tap to turn off screen setting.
In this case, users only need to enable Double tap to turn on screen to use the double tap screen turn function. The double tap to turn off screen function can also be activated if you want to use the device's display lock and power off function.
Using the double tap function on the screen is also quite easy. Although technically, users do require slightly different steps for turning the display on and off.
For those who don't know, a double tap to turn off the screen requires a blank area on the home screen or lock screen. To turn on the device's display, users can do so on the entire panel. In addition to enabling the double tap function to turn off or on the display, users will also find several other equally useful gesture settings.
One of these is Lift to wake up. Users can activate this gesture setting if they want the screen to automatically turn on when their Samsung phone is picked up. There's also the Alert when phone picked up feature. By activating this gesture setting, the Samsung phone will immediately vibrate when picked up if a missed message or incoming call is received.
Furthermore, users will also find the Mute with gestures setting. This gesture support allows users to mute incoming calls or alarms simply by placing the device face down.
