Huawei released its latest premium tablet, the MatePad 12 X (2025), on September 19, 2025. This device is the successor to the tablet of the same name, which was released in September 2024. This new generation Huawei MatePad 12 X carries a design and specifications quite similar to its predecessor.
In terms of design, this tablet features relatively thick bezels on all four sides. The rear design also features a half capsule camera module, just like last year's MatePad 12 X. The difference is that the MatePad 12 X (2025) comes with a new chipset and a high resolution camera. Otherwise, the MatePad 12 X (2025) specifications are similar to its predecessor. Here are the details.
Huawei MatePad 12 X (2025) Specifications: The Huawei MatePad 12 X 2025 features a 12 inch LCD display with a resolution of 2,800 × 1,840 pixels (2.8K), a 144 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits.
This tablet also supports PaperMatte display technology, which provides a paper like viewing experience. According to Huawei, this technology helps minimize eye strain and enhances content detail, even when used outdoors. The tablet's screen can be operated with a digital pen or the Huawei M-Pencil Pro stylus.
This tablet is powered by the Kirin T92B system on chip, unlike its predecessor, the Kirin T90A. The Kirin T92B in this tablet is paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. To support device performance, the tablet is also equipped with a cooling system with a dedicated 3D vapor chamber. According to Huawei, this support can boost high performance by up to 27 percent.
In terms of camera, Huawei's new tablet features a 50 MP rear camera, up from its predecessor's 13 MP. However, this tablet only has one camera, instead of two like the MatePad 12 X (2024).
The front camera, meanwhile, has an 8 MP resolution, to accommodate activities like video calls and selfies. In terms of power, this tablet is equipped with a 10,100 mAh battery. It supports 66 watt fast charging.
The MatePad 12 X (2025) runs on HarmonyOS 4.3, not Android. HarmonyOS replaces the Android OS, which Huawei can no longer use due to a technology export ban imposed by the United States government.
Therefore, this tablet does not come with Google Mobile Services (GMS). Users of this tablet cannot use the Google Play Store, Google Maps, YouTube, and other Google services. Instead, Huawei's latest tablet relies on the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem, with an app store called Huawei AppGallery. The MatePad 12 X (2025) also supports Wi-Fi, 7, Bluetooth 5.2, six speakers, and USB 3.1.
Huawei MatePad 12 X (2025) Price: The Huawei MatePad 12 X (2025) comes in two color options: white and green. In Europe, the tablet is priced at £649.99.
It should be noted that prices in Europe are typically higher than in other regions due to differences in tax burdens. The tablet also supports a magnetic keyboard, but this accessory is sold separately.
